This week is all about making new choices that get us out of the daily habits we've formed over time.
It's true that some habits serve us well, while others we want to eliminate. However, in either case, patterns of thought and behavior really become second nature and don't require conscious choice-making.
And, when we tend to go through the motions, we often miss many new insights or ideas that can spark the feeling of possibility.
Yesterday, my new decision was to ride my bike to work.
The weather was predicted to hit the low 80s, so I wore a skirt, jacket, and cute heel mary jane shoes.
The ride to work was freezing! So, that definitely woke me up on my way to the office.
What struck me most, other than the fact I couldn't feel the toes on my right foot halfway into the ride, was that Chico had installed new street lamps down 5th Avenue when they re-did the road and sidewalks.
These lamps are entirely charming; swirly and graceful in their stationary position.
I was blown away that I've walked my dog down this street many times, or taken it home from work and not noticed.
It took this slower pace to realize this.
Something as simple as noticing these street lamps brought a huge smile to my face.
It also inspired me to modify the sheet from yesterday. So, below, not only can you recall the new choice, or choices, you are making in a day, you can reflect on insights from those choices. Mine was as simple as appreciating something hew in my community. But, the new space you are creating through your conscious decisions could light up something even brighter within you, too!
